Youngstown

Youngstown was written in good ol' 1995.

This song tells of the importance of steel mills throughout the history of the USA. Springsteen boasts that the mills helped win the Civil war and WWII. He tells how they have always been a kind of generational thing. The father teaches his son and the line continues.

Since the song is in past tense, it makes me think that it went downhill when the man said "the world was changin". I don't know the history of Springsteen's father, but it does tell the truth about how the mills built weapons for us to win the wars.

I like this song because it's a little more upbeat than the past few.

It allows me to learn about the working class and how they played a role into the wars.
