The title is something I would say while listening to this song. Right before "..MAKE IT STOP!"
The song was written, in a break from all the other songs it is around, in 1944.
The song is, up until the last verse, basically a recounting story of Jesus. Not to important or interesting. However, at the last verse when they say that he would be killed if he taught such things today in New York, he would be killed because they are ridiculous to New Yorkers who only want to make money, not practice Charity.
I'm ALMOST sure this song was after Jesus' time, but still have to do some research on that aspect. It was during a time after the Great Depression so people were probably pretty protective with their money, especially in NYC. The artist was pretty repetitive.
So, as you may tell from my opening statement, I didn't really like this song. Its boring and I don't like the country-ness.
It lets me learn that Jesus was, and still is, an important aspect in US History
