The song is obviously about change and more specifically the civil rights movement. He wrote to tell of the new change that was a brewin. His line that mentioned the last being first, and the first being last really shows the change in the civil rights movement. He wants it to happen.

The song was written right before Kennedys assassination actually and that really shows the song. He wants change, and the assassins did not want that kind of change. His tone is very powerful.

I don't like this song. I think Bob Dylan's voice is annoying. Let the haters hate!
